ARTIST STATEMENT

In a world where queerness and death are generally seen as taboo, such things are hardly spoken of, and this is especially true when it comes to Chinese culture; violence and death must not be spoken of, and queerness is perverse. I wish to call attention to the tragic, the raw, and the taboo, as well as the beautiful.I display fragments of myself and the world around me in hopes that people will see themselves, or get a glimpse into a different life. I trudge through my mind brushstroke by brushstroke, line by line, stitch by stitch, making sense of everything in and around me.When people are taught to be quiet and filter themselves, I want to be unapologetically honest, regardless of mine or anybody’s comfort—because dishonesty and repression only breeds more discomfort in oneself. Over anything, I want to express a simple and clear message: You are seen, and you are never alone.

TERMS OF SERVICE

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE CONTACTING ME FOR WORKPERSONAL USE: By default, all commissioned artwork is for personal use. This means that any artwork you purchase from me cannot be used to sell or make profit from (such as using it on merchandise or selling prints/copies) unless compensation is paid. See below for commercial usage.COMMERCIAL USE: In order to use my artwork for commercial purposes such as merchandise, prints, album/EP cover artwork, etc. I will ask for additional monetary compensation. This will depend on several factors such as what you intend to use the piece for, and quantity of products/copies made and sold.USAGE RIGHTS: I retain ownership of my artwork, therefore any commissioned artwork may possibly be used in my portfolios or posted on my own social media; I will ask for permission before posting commissioned art in case you do not want it posted or shown. Any artwork you purchase from me may not be altered, and if any alterations or edits should be made to my artwork, you are to ask for permission beforehand.

PAYMENT

Commission Process:
1.) Contact via Instagram or Bluesky with your request. I will respond as soon as possible.2.) I will give you a quote and confirm the total price. A budget may be asked for.3.) Discuss a payment plan: You may pay 100% upfront OR pay in installments.4.) Ideation and sketching: After initial payment is sent, send written or visual ideas (can be descriptions, sketches of your own, reference images, moodboards, etc). I will make rough thumbnail sketches and let you decide on which composition you want.6.) I will send progress photos as I work on the piece, and at any point, I will send progress photos upon your request.7.) Once the piece is finished, I will send you a preview of the finished piece. If everything looks good, then I'll send you the full-resolution file(s) via Google Drive or email.If you have any other questions, please don't be afraid to ask!

Prices of traditional pieces will vary based on several different factors: Medium, size, material costs, time, and shipping. Contact me for a quote.

If you want your piece to be shipped to you, there will be an additional shipping cost. You, the customer, are expected to cover the shipping cost. I can only ship domestically within the United States through USPS. Local pickup is also an option if you are within the Baltimore and/or Washington County MD area.

PORTRAIT OF A DECAYING HORSE

Portrait Of A Decaying Horse is a series of short works that tell the story of Cassius Hong, a lonesome working-class man who develops a mysterious and distressing illness.This project is a work in progress. Works with grey links are unpublished. Everything is hosted on the Internet Archive.
